Sport student, Levi Thompson recently proved he’s a knockout by winning Reloaded, the Newcastle-based boxing championship.
The Level 3 Sport student, trains with Millennium Martial Arts in Blyth and participated in a K-1 kickboxing bout against Josh Redpath who fights for Newcastle Factory.
Reloaded is one of Newcastle’s most anticipated events, providing an evening of Thai boxing and kickboxing that features boxers from the North East and North West of England.
K-1 combines skillful elements of martial arts and originated in Japan where it is the biggest spectator event. Boxers are Commended for their execution of skillful moves, with judges awarding points for successful strikes but also their intent.
Matches consist of five three-minute rounds in which those competing can use their hands, feet and knees to deliver strikes to their opponents.
Levi who is currently preparing for his next fight, said: "I love competing and I'm focusing on the future and looking onward to the next word title shot."
Levi is next competing at Amateur Kings on Saturday 7 December in Luton against a dutch fighter, Jursly Carlos Vargas for a world title.
