Northumberland College are offering a range of Leisure Learning courses across Northumberland, designed for people who wish to develop a new skill, take up a new hobby or who simply wish to have fun and meet new people.

New courses on offer include smartphone and tablet photography, creative writing, Spanish for beginners, arts and crafts, cookery, willow weaving, ballroom, Charleston and jazz dancing, guitar lessons, plus much more.

Karen Clough, head of Leisure Learning at Northumberland College said:

"We are very excited to launch our brand-new Leisure Learning courses across Northumberland.

The aim is to provide members of the community with classes that are fun, practical, hands-on and creative.

These courses are designed just for fun without the pressures of having to do a qualification and are ideal short courses for those who can only spare a couple of hours per week."

Courses on offer run in a range of different venues across Northumberland, including the Fourways Centre in Amble, Sour Grapes, Treacle Wool Shop and Watson House in Morpeth, the Hearth Arts Centre in Horsley and the college's Kirkley Hall, Ashington and Berwick campuses.

Tony Glover, Trustee of the Hearth Arts Centre said: "As a busy hub for arts and music, the Hearth strives to provide opportunities and activities for the local community and those living further afield."

"We were delighted to be approached by Northumberland College with a view to becoming one of the outreach venues for their Leisure Learning programme, and we are really looking forward to hosting an exciting variety of classes in partnership with the College.  Initially we will be offering 'Tasters' before Christmas in Spanish for Beginners plus Willow Weaving."

Courses are available to adults of all abilities this December, with many more courses being added and launched in January for the new year.

Those who wish to enrol can do so without leaving the house by booking and paying online at www.northumberland.ac.uk.
