Northumberland College's Berwick Campus welcomed pupils from
Berwick Academy and The Duchess's Community High School in Alnwick
to take part in a wide range of activities and workshops,
highlighting the college's local facilities and provision, as well
as raising awareness to the variety of career paths available to
students in Northumberland.
Throughout the day, groups of learners visited various activity
stations spread out across the College's Berwick campus.
Year 9 and 10 students enjoyed masterclasses and workshops which
included STEM forensic Science crime investigations, music
production live DJ sets, motor vehicle workshops, art and design
craft lessons, beauty hand massages and mini manicure
demonstrations as well as various science and career
Primary schools Spittal First School and Holy Trinity First also
attended the event and were introduced to STEM based activities
organised by the College's Science department.
Berwick Centre Manager, Tracy Girdwood, said: "It was a pleasure
to welcome so many pupils from across Northumberland to our Berwick
Campus and to showcase our fantastic facilities.
"We had excellent feedback from the students and staff involved
and it was great to highlight different career paths and
opportunities available to students locally, that they might not
have known about or considered before."
Courses at Northumberland College's Berwick Centre include
Health and Care, Access to Higher Education, Travel and Tourism,
Special Effects Make-up, Art and Photography, Motor Vehicle,
Construction, Event Management and Sports, in partnership with
Berwick Rangers Football Club.
The Graduate salon situated on Berwick High Street is the
College's commercial hairdressing and beauty therapy salon, with
Wella Centre of Excellence status, offering a range of courses in
hair and beauty.
Those wishing to find out more about courses can come along to
an open event on Tuesday 12 June, 4.30pm - 7pm.
College representatives will also be on hand in Berwick Town
Centre on Saturday, 13 July, 9am - 3pm in Berwick Town Centre in
the College's event exhibition van
