Northumberland College has launched an exclusive discount scheme for its students, Northland Xtra.

Students are now able to enjoy discounts of up to 50% off at the college's commercial services and attractions including The Graduate Hair and Beauty Salon, winter car checks at the new motor vehicle workshops, Kirkley Hall Zoological Gardens, The Orangery Tea Room, the zip wire at Kirkley Hall Activity Centre and Kirkley Hall Dog Grooming Services.

The discounts will also benefit those students training in the commercial environments with increased visitor numbers and greater opportunities to practice their new skills.

Northland Xtra discounts are available to students of all ages who study at any of the college's campuses. Students are simply asked to present their Student ID to receive the discount.

'Out and About' discounts can also be obtained at participating cinemas, leisure centres (swimming) and McDonald's.

As part of the Northland Xtra reward scheme students can also participate in a range of free social enrichment activities including use of the college gym and Wednesday afternoon enrichment activities at Ashington Leisure Centre, the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme and computer club and all students will automatically be entered into a monthly prize draw to win a free lunch time meal for two in the brand-new restaurant at the Ashington Campus.

Students are also reminded that Northumberland College may be able to provide financial support with the cost of studying, depending on individual circumstances. Support may be available to assist with the associated costs of studying including travel, childcare, kit, books, equipment and meals whilst in college.

A free transport scheme for students aged 16-18 years old who live more than 3 miles from their chosen place of study and extended dedicated bus services were introduced this academic year.

Students are encouraged to drop into the Info Zone at the Ashington and Kirkley Hall campuses or call 01670 841 200 for more information and to check eligibility.
