North Tyneside based private hire taxi operator, Blueline has trained over 120 drivers with bespoke training from Northumberland College.

When the taxi operator needed to recruit new drivers in order to supply its unmet demand for taxis they decided the recruitment process would provide the ideal opportunity to also incorporate an element of customer service training for its drivers.

Northumberland College offer a full range of business training solutions and also offer a free recruitment service so Blueline got in contact.

Frank Sims, Operations Manager of Blueline, said: "We were looking for training in customer service, dealing with difficult situations and also knowledge based training."

Northumberland College's services include developing bespoke training to exactly match employer needs.

Frank said: "We feel that having a professional body like Northumberland College deliver the training adds to the professionalism of our business.

"Over the past 12 months we have developed the training programme significantly into a flexible roll-on roll-off programme that has trained over 120 drivers. And we're confident that overtime we will be able to meet our demand and also increase business profitability."

George Swift, a new driver at Blueline, said: "The whole process was fabulous, form starting the course last September to driving for Blueline only took four weeks. The training was a great experience and covered medical knowledge to customer care and you can tell customers appreciate it."
