Who is the course for?

The Foundation Degree in Horticulture is aimed at individuals interested in horticulture and landscape management.

A variety of core and specialist modules are studied over the two years to improve industry, academic and research skills.

This course provides direct progression opportunities to individuals within the fields of horticulture and landscape management and has been designed to appeal to students with a variety of previous horticultural experience.

Do I need any formal qualifications?

To study this course you should have the equivalent of 48 UCAS points and also have GCSE in English and Mathematics Grade A to C or 9 to 4, or level 2 equivalent qualifications.

Applicants who have relevant skills and experience but who do not hold the standard minimum entry requirements will be considered. Applicants will be required to evidence appropriate levels of work-related experience and/or vocational qualifications.

Course Cost: £7000 fees for 18/19

Additional costs:

Students are advised they may incur extra costs for additional books, journal subscriptions and resources. If the printing allocation is exceeded then you may need to purchase additional credits. Students are responsible for transport costs and this includes field trips.

Your progress will be assessed by a range of methods including: investigative project, essays, case studies, presentations and other exercises.

It may be possible to take up student membership of an appropriate professional organisation.

A Foundation Degree (FdSc) Horticulture

After completing the course, you can find employment in horticulture and landscape management. You could also continue to study for a degree BSc Hons Horticulture (Top Up).

Higher Education learners are entitled to apply for HE Loans that cover the cost of tuition. In addition, depending on your chosen course of study and individual circumstances, you may be entitled to a maintenance loan. You may also qualify for a college bursary All learners can also apply for help with the cost of travel to college and the college may be able to help with the costs of childcare, travel, books, equipment and meals for learners resident in houses where income is below £25000 annually.
