The Business Engagement & Apprenticeship Team at Northumberland College are delighted to announce the Apprenticeship Recognition Celebration 2019, as part of our programme of events during National Apprenticeship Week 2019. This event will be held in the Gallery Restaurant at Northumberland College, Ashington Campus between 4pm and 6pm, on Wednesday 6th March 2019.

The event will celebrate the commitment and achievements of employers, employees and apprentices involved with our Apprenticeship provision at Northumberland College.  

There will be an opportunity for celebration and networking among delegates, plus a range of refreshments will be provided throughout the event.

In support of this we are actively seeking nominations across a range of categories, listed on the following page.

We truly hope that you are able to spare a few moments to complete the nomination form and return by the date given below.

Those shortlisted for the awards will be invited to attend the celebration evening with the winners announced during the event.

 

 

Award nomination form

For each category please elect your nominee. Please complete in full as nominees can only be considered if all information is available, simply to ensure there are no duplications.

 

Employer categories

Small Medium Enterprise Employer of the Year

An employer with up to 100 employees, who shows outstanding contribution, delivery and support the development of apprenticeships within the organisation; advocates of hard work and ambition.

Large Enterprise Employer of the Year

An employer with over 100 employees, who shows outstanding contribution, delivery and support the development of apprenticeships within the organisation; advocates of hard work and ambition.

Rising Star/Best Newcomer

This employer would be new to working with Northumberland College, in relation to Apprenticeships, they would have fully embraced the concept of staff development and enrichment through apprenticeship; going ‘above and beyond’ to ensure that their Apprentice/s have the best opportunities within their place of employment.

Skills Champion

This employer continuously demonstrates workplace skills sustainability and commitment to addressing skill shortages within their industry, through the use of apprenticeships.

Employer Contribution

This employer will demonstrate full commitment to apprenticeship reform, and is an advocate for the continual development of apprenticeship programmes through their support of the College’s ethos.

Work Based Mentor

This award recognising the efforts of a work based mentor who embraces the role in such a way that the apprentice gains the best experience possible. The nominee shares ideas, experience, and knowledge in abundance and fully epitomises the true meaning of the work, mentor.

 

Apprentice categories

Rising Star

An apprentice who has, throughout their apprenticeship programme, shown true dedication, determination, drive and progression within their chosen field of interest and within their place of employment; they are set to achieve great things in their role.

Apprenticeship Advocate

This award is in honour of Jacqui Henderson CBE, Chair of Governors at Northumberland, 2012-2018.  This nominee would be determined and dedicated in all they do, with a genuine drive to improve not only themselves but those around them. They use their position to positively impact their business and the industry. They are a true champion in fulfilling the potential of individuals around them and a role model to the next generation of apprentices.

Land-based Apprentice of the Year

This award is aimed at apprentices working in the following sectors: agriculture, animal care and veterinary nursing, arboriculture, countryside and environment, equine, environmental conservation, horticulture and outdoor education.

STEM Apprentice of the Year

This award is aimed at apprentices working in the following sectors: STEM, including air-conditioning, plumbing & heating, motor vehicle, engineering, ICT and fabrication and welding.

Construction Apprentice of the Year

This award is aimed at apprentices working in the following sectors: all construction areas including carpentry and joinery, plastering, bricklaying, groundwork and highways, painting and decorating, wall and floor tiling, floor covering, property maintenance, gas networking.

Creative & Lifestyle Apprentice of the Year

This award is aimed at apprentices working in the following sectors: art, hairdressing and barbering, beauty therapy, business and associated sectors, warehousing, hospitality and catering, furniture manufacturing, junior content producer.

 

Northumberland College Employee Categories

A member of staff at Northumberland College, involved in the delivery of apprenticeships, who have gone above and beyond reasonable practice to ensure all parties receive impeccable service.

Skills Coach of the Year

This would be the Work Based Assessor/Skills Coach for your Apprentice/ Apprenticeship.

 

Curriculum Staff Member of the Year

This would be the Lecturer or Instructor delivering the programme of study at College.

Support Staff Member of the Year

This could be but is not restricted to the following roles: Business Development Officers, Relationship & Accounts Officers, Help Hub Team Member and Apprenticeship Support staff.
