What’s it all about?

The qualification is designed to give students skills, knowledge and an understanding of the sport and physical activity sector and will act as a stepping stone to a range of occupations, often through the route of higher education.

You will have achieved a relevant level 2 qualification, and/or preferably grade 4 and above in four GCSE's (including maths and English).

The objectives of the qualification is to:
- allow students to gain an in-depth understanding of the sport and physical activity sector
- give students the opportunity to investigate career opportunities in the sport and physical activity sector
- allow students to choose content which relates to their own interests, aspirations and progression choices.

You will be assessed using a range of methods, including assignments and physical tests. You will create a portfolio of evidence generated from appropriate assessment tasks which demonstrates achievement of all the learning outcomes associated with each unit. Each unit of the qualification is internally assessed and externally quality assured.

There will be opportunities for participating in competitive sports; trips and visits and volunteering with community groups.

English and maths are important life skills that will help you to achieve your best in your studies and progress to your chosen career. If you have not already achieved grade 9-4 in GCSE maths and/ or English at school, we will support you to improve your skills.
