What’s it all about?

if you are interested in learning all aspects of the floristry industry, including practical floral designs as well as art and design and identifying and treatment of flowers then this course is for you

You are required to have a good standard of education and competence. Assessment of suitability is likely to be based on GCSE grades or equivalent. Mature students with relevant experience will also be considered

Your progress will be assessed by a range of methods including practical assessments, observations, written assignments and identification tests. Assessments are spread out and varied to allow your skills to develop. You will also sit an online multiple choice exam on the art and design unit

This course involves a set number of work experience hours in an industry environment

40 hours of supervised practical work experience over the academic year is required. This will be completed in a florist shop or similar.

The course is full-time and you will attend college 2 full days per week over 1 academic year. Each lesson will consist of theory, group work, lots of discussion, as well as practical floristry.

If you are interested in learning all aspects of the floristry industry, including practical floral designs including bouquets, weddings, funerals and arrangements, as well as art and design and identifying and treatment of flowers and function decorating, then this course is for you

This course includes both practical floristry and industry training. There are 10 units including Art and design, care and monitoring of fresh materials, planted designs, hand tied bouquets, funeral and wedding designs, floral arrangements, display, function decorating and working in the industry.
