This course covers the following: understanding the risk assessment and emergency procedures on a work site including current health and safety requirements and best practice, identification and assessment of tree species, time of year, associated hazards and implications for work, selection, pre-use checks, safe use and maintenance of tools and PPE, understanding environmental implications of proposed work and respond appropriately, explaining the different cuts and their use, understanding the potential effects of removal on the remaining parts of the tree, understanding the additional equipment used to aid removal of sections, understanding access and positioning methods for tree climbing, assessment of weight and length of timber to be removed and identify drop zone issues, including protection of infrastructure, understanding how to remove and dispose of waste appropriately. This prepares you for the independent assessment.
