It will equip you for employment at a supervisory level by developing your higher-level skills, techniques as well as personal qualities and attitudes. In addition, it ll prepare you to progress to further professional development at a higher level if desired for example courses in nursing, midwifery or working with older adults.
This programme is highly work related and practical, there is an element of work placement required in this course.
A Level 3 qualification e.g. a BTEC National Diploma, NVQ at Level 3 or an A Level equivalent in health and social care or a related subject including work experience within a health and social care environment is required and this should be equivalent to 48 UCAS points
Students must be able to read and communicate clearly and accurately enough to meet the requirements of this training. All candidates must undertake an interview, initial assessment and apply for or demonstrate DBS clearance to confirm that they do not have a criminal background which might prevent them from working with young people or vulnerable adults.

Each unit or module will be assessed by a mixture of assignment, seminar, presentation and/or evidence from your work placement. There are no exams. You will be supported through tutor notes and materials which are available on Blackboard, our virtual learning environment. You will be required to complete research and development work independently beyond class and keep up to date, communicating regularly with your tutors if you cannot attend college.
