The Red Lion Inn A traditional 18th Century Coaching Inn that’s a welcome retreat for those looking to stay over in comfortable and luxurious accommodation, sample freshly cooked local produce, and drink some of the finest local beers. We provide quality bed and breakfast accommodation and a cosy bar.

  A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an apprentice to join our small team in the Red Lion located in the small village of Alnmouth.

Training to be provided: Level 2 Commis Chef, In-house Training with employer

Vacancy Description: The successful candidate will be working alongside experienced staff, learning to complete training with the aim of providing a kitchen and front of house service to customers, meeting and exceeding their expectations. The role will include:

  • Committed to completing the apprenticeship
  • Learning to understand how public house, accommodation and restaurant all work together

You will be expected to work with in the terms and conditions of your contract of employment and adhere to company policies, procedures, instructions, values and behaviours of the business.

Skills required: Able to follow instructions, communicate well with other team members, can work quickly and efficiently once trained, able to work well under pressure during busy times

Personal qualities: Excellent personal hygiene, pro-active person who will look for work on completion of own, enthusiastic and willing to learn, committed to completing the apprenticeship, a good work ethic.

Qualifications required: GCSE Grade A-C in Maths and English (or equivalent). Functional skills will be undertaken at College by applicants without this qualification.

Future prospects: Progression to level 3, Full time employment

Reality check: The employer is looking for someone who can provide very good customer service and has a passion for cooking and working within hospitality. This is a very busy establishment therefore attitude and behaviour is a key element for the successful candidate. You must be able to take instructions and act on them appropriately.
