Employer Description: Established in 1985, Shield Engineering is renowned for high precision engineering and has been delivering a high-quality service for 34 years from our base in Northumberland to a variety of local and global industries.

Vacancy short description: With a growing global customer database the opportunity has arisen for the right candidate to complete a Level 2 Apprenticeship in Business Administration while working for a growing engineering company.


Duties will include:



Answering phone

Dealing with customer enquires 

Supporting other team members

First point of contact for incoming calls

Typing up and recording of Sales Quotes and emailing them to clients

Daily maintenance / updating of spreadsheets

Entering purchase order details, delivery notes, new jobs etc

Issuing job cards copy fabrication drawing to work supervisors

Dealing with daily internal and external mail

Assisting with posting of weekly timesheets on to computer systems

Good listening skills & able to follow instructions

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Professional telephone manner

Strong IT skills

Adaptable to undertake a wide range of tasks

Reliable with good attendance and punctuality

Good timekeeping

Able to follow instructions

Comfortable working alone or as part of a team

Good educational background

An enthusiasm to learn and commit to the apprenticeship


Qualifications required:

GCSE grade A - C in English and Maths or equivalent,

IT qualifications or to be able to demonstrate good IT skills


Future prospects: Full time employment.
