 Pockerley Equestrian Centre is home to a small friendly B.H.S. Approved Riding School & Livery Yard in the heart of the stunning Beamish Countryside​.

Tracey O'Donnell has owned & managed the business for over 20 years. She is a B.H.S. Level 4 accredited Professional Senior Coach & has extensive experience of training, teaching & competing. All staff at Pockerley are B.H.S. Qualified or training towards B.H.S. exams.

The school has a variety of fantastic horses & ponies, with 22 school horses who will accommodate complete beginners and competent riders, who may wish to compete in show jumping, dressage or cross country, or further their riding career with B.H.S. exams.

The Centre also has 11 full livery on site.


 Equine Apprenticeship based in the Beamish countryside, Durham.


 Training to be provided: Level 2 or 3 Equine Groom Apprenticeship

Vacancy full description:

The position will include:

  • Riding
  • General grooming
  • General yard duties i.e Mucking out, tack up, turning out/in
  • Assisting with vet, farrier, dentists and physio
  • Preparing horses for the pony club
  • Assist riding school customers
  • Care of horses after exercise
  • Customer care
  • Working with the public and customers
