Vacancy short description: A Fantastic opportunity has arisen for the successful candidate to join the team at a Unique 18th Century 80 Acre Stately Home based in Paxton, 3 miles from Berwick, whilst working towards gaining their qualification at Level 2 in Horticulture.

  • Strimming
  • General grounds maintenance
  • Fencing - removing and erecting new and existing fencing
  • Turfing
  • Using a range of tools
  • Planting Trees and shrubs
  • Cutting hedges
  • Pruning trees
  • Weeding borders
  • Weed killing and spraying
  • Planting plants
  • Keeping grounds tidy
  • General tidying duties
  • Sowing seeds and propagating plants
  • Working in the Green House
  • Growing plants to sell to the public


You will be expected to be creative and bring new ideas. You will effectively manage customer expectations. You will share knowledge and new ideas where required. You will carry out the work to the required standards with efficiency and quality expected by your supervisor (with support and training). You will be expected to work within the terms and conditions of your contract of employment and adhere to company policies, procedures, instructions, values and behaviours.

Future prospects: Progression to level 3 ,Full time employment , In House training with employer ,

Training to be provided: Level 2 Horticulture Standard.

  • Skills required: Practical nature, already completed a Level 1 diploma would be an advantage, A passion about Gardening & Horticulture, Understanding of the Horticulture industry, Self-motivated, Excellent Customer Service skills, Works Accurately, be able to work as part of a team. Experience of working in a customer service environment would be advantageous. Good communication skills, team working Keen interest/or knowledge of Horticultural skills

Reality check:. This is a very busy and high pressured role, therefore attitude and behaviour is a key element for the successful candidate. You will often be working in elderly people’s properties therefore respect and communication is KEY! You must be able to take instructions and act on them appropriately. The company will provide you with lunch daily.

Important Information:

You will be required to work to the terms and conditions of your contract. You may be required to work early morning, late evenings and weekend on occasion.
