Vacancy Title: Facilities Management Apprentice- Level 2

Vacancy short description: The main purpose of the job is to support and assist the Facilities and Site Management Team to ensure all premises are safe, serviced and maintained to the required level as a necessity and priority for our staff, students and visitors.

Vacancy full description: You will be employed by Northumberland Church of England Academy Trust to complete an Apprenticeship in Caretaking which includes a NVQ in Facilities and Site Management.

Sorting and distributing internal mail.

Oversee contractors working on site.

Assist with the booking in of visitors and contractors.

General porterage duties as required, including movement of furniture and equipment and delivering of internal post.

Maintain the security of the premises to ensure a safe environment.         

Under the supervision of the caretakers you will:

Support the caretakers in the setting up for school functions including assemblies, performances and exams.

Attend training events as and when required.

Ensure that all janitorial equipment is fit for purpose and properly maintained.

Maintain adequate supplies of materials (light bulbs, batteries etc.) and assist with the receipt and safe storage of goods.

Ensure that all ventilation, access and exit points operate effectively and that firefighting appliances are readily accessible and properly maintained.

Monitor and report the general condition of the property, undertake minor repairs and ensure daily and seasonal routine maintenance /DIY tasks are carried out in a timely manner, including but not limited to changing light bulbs, taps, paint touch-ups etc.

Ensure that external areas of the property are kept free from litter and debris, bins are emptied regularly and main access routes and agreed areas are kept clear of leaves, snow and ice.

Under the guidance of a caretaker - operation and maintenance of heating systems and associated tasks.

Ensure cleaning standards are maintained and undertake cleaning related tasks as required such as dusting, hoovering, cleaning toilets, emptying bins etc.

To undertake any other work requested by, and deemed appropriate by, the Chief Executive Officer in agreement with the apprentice.

To undertake other duties and responsibilities as required commensurate with the grade of the post.

Qualifications required: GCSE Grade A-C in Maths and English (or equivalent) preferred however, functional skills will be undertaken at College by applicants without this qualification.

Future prospects: Full time employment.

Reality check: You will be in a working in a school environment with other members of staff on a daily basis. You must understand the principles of safeguarding and you must have a general awareness of the importance of data protection.

Important Information:

The Northumberland Church of England Academy has five sites, all of which you will be required to attend and/or travel to throughout your working days. Own transport would be an advantage or an excellent knowledge of public transport routes if necessary.

An Enhanced DBS Check is required for this position
