Vacancy full description: The successful candidate will be working alongside very experienced bakers learning to complete training with the aim of providing a café and front of house service to the Newbiggin Maritime Centre customers which meets or exceeds their expectations. The role includes working in the café taking orders, making refreshments, preparing snacks and a light lunch menu in the kitchen, processing purchases through the till, undertaking stock checks and working in the NMC front of house areas.
You will be expected to work with in the terms and conditions of your contract of employment and adhere to company policies, procedures, instructions, values and behaviors of the business.
Skills required: Able to follow instructions, communicate well with other team members, can work quickly and efficiently once trained, able to work well under pressure during busy times
Personal qualities: Excellent personal hygiene, pro-active person who will look for work on completion of own, enthusiastic and willing to learn, committed to completing the apprenticeship, a good work ethic.
Qualifications required: GCSE Grade A-C in Maths and English (or equivalent). Functional skills will be undertaken at College by applicants without this qualification.
Future prospects: Progression to level 3, Full time employment
The Centre is open all year round and hosts various events.
Reality check: The employer is looking for someone who can provide very good customer service and has a passion for cooking and baking. This can be a very busy place therefore attitude and behaviour is a key element for the successful candidate. You must be able to take instructions and act on them appropriately.
