Nanna Megs Grooming Parlour is a small friendly dog groomers established three years ago in Dudley, Cramlington. The owner has been grooming dogs for over six years. The parlour is extremely passionate about dogs and grooming. They have a great ethos providing a service of quality not quantity. We are looking for reliable and hard-working individual to join our team.

It is really important to us you are a dog lover and are keen to learn.

  • Duties will include;
  • Meeting greeting customers
  • Handling cash
  • Keeping customer records up to date
  • General cleaning of the salon
  • Bathing and drying dogs
  • Assisting groomers with grooming
  • Working with myself and kirkley hall to gain confidence and skills in animal care and dog grooming to develop into cutting and styling of breeds. 
  • Must be able to travel to Northumberland College - Kirkley Hall Campus once a week via public transport or by own transport.

 

Future prospects: For the right candidate, progression within the company, full time employment. 

Training to be provided:

Apprenticeship framework

  • In house training with employer
  • Functional skills if required
  • A Level 2 or 3 in Animal Care (and Dog Grooming) depending on previous qualifications)

 

Qualifications required: Level 2 maths & English OR GCSE Grade C or above.

Skills required:

  • A caring and confident attitude around the dogs.
  • Able to listen and follow instructions
  • Teamwork
  • A knowledge of dogs is a must.
  • Tidy appearance.

Personal qualities:

  • Have great communication skills for working within a team
  • Be able to work effectively and with minimum supervision within a timely manner
  • Have strong interpersonal skills and be confident to interact with the public
  • To be reliable
  • Good time keeper
  • Be able to work in a team
  • To be confident around all animals.
  • Have a creative side.

Reality check:  This can be a very busy and high pressured role, therefore attitude and behaviour is a key element for the successful candidate. You must be able to take instructions and act on them appropriately.
