Vacancy full description: The successful candidate will complete an Apprenticeship in Plastering. This is an excellent opportunity to start a career in construction as an apprentice plasterer working alongside experienced and qualified staff learning all aspects of the trade.

  • You will carry out the work to the required standards with efficiency and quality expected by your supervisor (with support and training).
  • You will carry out all aspects of Plastering including how to mix plaster and apply to different walls both internally and externally, cleaning of buckets, Dot & Dab
  • You will learn how to apply plasterboard to timber frame units as well as taping and jointing in commercial, domestic and site settings.

You will be expected to work with in the terms and conditions of your contract of employment and adhere to company policies, procedures, instructions, values and behaviours.  Undertake internal and external Plastering repairs to the highest standard in accordance with work requests and pre-determined specifications to a wide range of fixtures and fittings. This will include the removal of existing structures and fixtures, and the preparation of surfaces to facilitate the construction and repairs of buildings that will include the following elements:

  • Walls
  • Ceilings
  • Floor screeding
  • Wall and floor tiling
  • Damp proof courses
  • Barrier floor protection
  • External render
  • Covings and cornices
  • Minor brickwork repairs
  • Timber fixing where necessary to ceilings and walls
  • Erecting
  • You will carry out the work to the required standards with efficiency and quality expected by your supervisor (with support and training).

 Skills required:

  • Level 1, 2 or 3 Diploma in Plastering would be an advantage
  • Good dexterity skills
  • Practical thinker
  • Able to follow instructions
  • Experience of using hand tools would be an advantage
  • Manually dexterous
  • Ability to follow and work to plans
  • Be able to work as part of a team
  • Ability to work at height


    Personal qualities: have already completed a diploma in Plastering at College, have own tools, Genuine interest in Plastering, Good team player, enthusiastic, willing to learn, committed to completing the apprenticeship, a good work ethic & hard working, physically fit, ability to work under pressure, polite manner, approachable, commination skills (the ability to talk to clients)

 

Qualifications required: GCSE Grade A-C in Maths and English (or equivalent). Functional skills will be undertaken at College by applicants without this qualification.
