Girsonfield Stud and Racing was established in 1999 by Susan and Frank Corbett with the ambition of creating an affordable stud farm for the breeding of point-to-pointers. From these origins, Girsonfield has grown into one of the leading yards in the North-East. Offering modern facilities and training for both National Hunt and Flat horses. The Equine Yard concentrates on the Breeding, Rearing and Training of Race Horses.

Based next to the small village of Otterburn, Northumberland, premises include 130 acres of grazing, stabling suitable for 50 horses, including 45 licensed racing boxes, and 2 all-weather gallops.

  1. Training to be provided:
  • Level 2 Equine Groom STANDARD
  • Functional Skills if Required
  • On the job training

Vacancy full description:

  • To assist in the upkeep and welfare of Mares, Foals, young stock and horses out of training
  • To muck out
  • Groom on
  • To put horses on and take them off the walker
  • Field management
  • Stud duties including foaling mares and rearing young stock
  • Assisting with the vets, chiropractor, etc

 Qualifications required: GCSE Grade A-C in Maths and English (or equivalent). Functional skills will be undertaken at College by applicants without this qualification.
