Cramlington Learning Village is a specialist science and vocational college in Northumberland. It is a successful comprehensive school of 2,300 students recognised as “Outstanding” by Ofsted three times in succession. The school became an 11-18 school in September 2008 as part of a local authority re organisation which saw the old three tier system become a two tier system of primary and secondary education.

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for the successful candidate to work for a well-established business, based in Cramlington to become a qualified Chef.

  • Apprentice Chef required assisting with serving food for seven different areas throughout the school.
  • The successful applicant will learn how to prepare and cook a variety of foods from standard options to more complex dishes.
  • The successful applicant will also be required to carry out general kitchen duties such as washing dishes and cutlery, cleaning benches, cleaning the floor, assisting the head chef with menu preparation and assisting serving food.

    Qualifications required: GCSE Grade A-C in Maths and English (or equivalent). Functional skills will be undertaken at College by applicants without this qualification.

    Reality check: Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW): The National Minimum Wage for Apprentices is £3.70 per hour from 1st April 2017. This is the legal minimum pay per hour applying to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship. For apprentices 19 or over who have completed their first year and are continuing their apprenticeship, the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.
