Our Practice is highly patient focused and we have a multidisciplinary approach to patients’ health care. We aim to deliver the best for our patients by combining the skills of the practice team with other health and social care workers in the community.

A Business Administration Level 2 Apprenticeship for a Doctors Surgery in Stocksfield, Northumberland.

Full training and Support on all aspects of the Job role will be provided. We will give you the practical work experience and qualifications you need to help secure a career in administration.


  • To have a thorough knowledge of all practice procedures
  • To work in accordance with written protocols
  • Administration requirements as per the needs of the surgery
  • Scanning of documents onto EMIS web
  • Filing, faxing, shredding, and photocopying as required
  • Summarising patient notes, and adding diagnosis to the patient’s notes following clinical direction
  • Recalling patients for QOF, flu campaign, and NHS Health checks etc.
  • Understand the applicability of business principles such as managing change, business finance and project management
  • Take responsibility for initiating and completing tasks, managing priorities and time in order to successfully meet deadlines
  • Demonstrate good communication skills, whether face-to-face, on the telephone, in writing, or on digital platforms
  • Produce accurate records and documents including e-mails, letters, files and reports
  • Complete tasks to a high standard. Demonstrate the necessary level of expertise required to complete tasks and apply yourself to continuously improve performance


  • Meeting and greeting patients consulting with members of the practice team
  • Handing completed repeat prescriptions to patient and checking names and address and date of birth
  • Be able to cover all areas of reception position as necessary
  • Friends & Family Test, be aware of the need for each Practice to collect this information and to report appropriately

Qualifications required:

GCSE Grade A-C in Maths and English (or equivalent). Functional skills will be undertaken at College by applicants without this qualification.

The minimum wage rates are £5.90 an hour for 18-20 year olds; £7.38 for anyone aged 21 to 24 and £7.83 for those over 25
