To carry our day to day farming activities associated with livestock (sheep and cattle -see below), grassland and tractor work, including repairs and maintenance of the general fabric of the farm at Stamford and Shipley farms.
Vacancy full description:
Carry out effective care to the flock by looking as necessary and dealing with problems as they arise. Preventing ingress of disease and other issues by following flock health plan
Carry out effective care to the Herd by looking as necessary and dealing with problems as they arise. Prevent ingress of disease and other issues by following Herd health plans.
Prepare fields for arable and forage cropping.
Using machinery available
Primary cultivation -Plough and press land
Secondary cultivation- Simba press, and Horsch Terrano, Cambridge rolls
Planting seed with Horsch Pronto drill
Crop husbandry: Fertiliser spreading, weed removal as required.
Machinery repairs and servicing as required.
Forage and Grassland management
Grass-topping, drainage and weed management. Assist in silage and hay making as necessary, working to improve grassland and optimise the grazing potential of fields
Fencing and stock proofing
To ensure fields are stock proof and livestock remain in correct fields. Carry out running repairs to fencing, gates, hurdles, tools, water troughs etc
Assist in keeping gutters/ drains and buildings watertight and clean. Assist with clearance of let properties as necessary.
Health and Safety
Carry out work in compliance with Health and Safety of self and others on the farms and
To contribute to improving fire safety, health and safety, waste management, etc. To keep all work and storage area clean and tidy
Cleaning, repairs and servicing
Keep sheds clean and tidy; clean and carry out running repairs on quads, trailers, and machinery related to work; clean sheep and cattle handling equipment and pens associated with daily activities.
Record Keeping and Administration
Keep Records in accordance with DEFRA cross compliance requirements and Farm Assurance schemes (NSF at present but this may vary) and send to office as required.
To keep records of flock and cattle movements including sales, purchases, births and deaths; keep sheep and cattle medicine books and records of medicines used; keep Tag records; and send to office as required.
Record Time keeping of work carried out on different enterprises and send to office on regular basis as required.
Training and Communication
Communicate with other members of staff and management as necessary and participate in quarterly team meetings to benefit of the business.
You may be required to undertake other duties from time to time as reasonably required by
Robertson of Stamford. You shall not work for anybody else while you are employed by Robertson of Stamford except by agreement. To assist on occasion with the maintenance of farm cottages, gardens and any other business enterprises that may arise
Weekly wage: £3.70 per hour - 30 hours per week = £111.00 per week
Working week: 30 hours per week.
