Working week: 30 hours - You will be required to work early morning, late evenings and weekends on occasion

Weekly wage: £111.00 (30hrs x £3.70)

The position will include:

  • General yard duties
  • Mucking out
  • Preparing haynets
  • Filling water troughs
  • Care of horses
  • Grooming
  • Tacking up
  • Feeding
  • Care of horses after exercise
  • Customer Care
  • Working with the public
  • Dealing with show horses and competition horses.
  • Attending events and competitions

Skills required:

  • Must be confident with horses or around horses
  • Good time keeper
  • Reliable
  • Trustworthy
  • Be able to work in a team
  • Listen and follow instructions
  • Confident rider

 

Personal qualities:

  • Enthusiastic
  • Passionate about horses
  • Be able to work with horses of all sizes
  • To have some experience with horses
  • A passion for show horses and competition horses

Qualifications required:

GCSE Grade A-C in Maths and English (or equivalent). Functional skills will be undertaken at College by applicants without this qualification.

Future prospects:

Progression to level 3, Full time employment. Could run own yard, hunting or eventing.

Reality check:

  • Because of the remote location of the yard and the fact that there is no near public transport it would be advantageous to have your own transport or car.
  • Attitude and behaviour is a key element for the successful candidate. You must be able to take instructions and act on them appropriately.
  • You will be working outside in all weathers.
