Student FAQ

Payments are made every 4 college weeks as they are not payed for holidays.


Why have an extensive range of courses to suit everyone's needs. Including Engineering, Hairdressing, Horticulture, IT, Art and many more. We also offer courses from Level 1 through to Degree Level. Please call our Help Hub on 01670 841200 for more information.


Courses are free for many learners as follows:

  • 16-18 year olds at the start of the course
  • 19+ learners for English and Maths courses up to and including Level 2
  • 19+ learners in receipt of qualifying benefits
  • 19+ learners studying  first full Level 2 or 3 courses


Learners aged 19 and over studying a qualifying Level 3 course may be eligible for the Advanced Learner Loan, which means no up-front course fees. Click here for more information. 

We also have funds to help with the cost of coming to college.

The majority of our courses start in September with some offering January/February intakes.

Apprenticeships are on demand and start when you are ready!

And we have a range of part-time and leisure courses with start dates throughout the year.


You can apply for a course via our website, contact our Help Hub team on 01670 841200 and we will post an application form out to you, or simply call into our Help Hub at Ashington or Kirkley Hall or any Outreach Centre where we will help you complete your application.

Enrolments are completed at our annual enrolment event which runs from August to September.
