Who is the course for?

If you are employed in the fabrication and welding industry and want an Advanced Apprenticeship then this is the programme for you.

Do I need any formal qualifications?

You should have a relevant Level 2 Qualification and be employed in the industry.

What will I study on the course?

You will choose one of five route ways:

ENG0069P - Engineering Maintenance

ENG0071P - Mechanical Manufacturing

ENG0072P - Technical Support

ENG0081P - Electrical and Electronic Programme Engineering

ENG0070P - Fabrication and Welding

You will study higher level engineering theory and explore units that cover planned and preventative maintenance approach. Ideal if you are employed in a mechanical, manufacturing, electrical, electronic engineering or a welding and fabrication role and you would like to gain a higher level qualification.

The 2850 level 2 technical certificate will be on a Tuesday from 9.00am - 4.00pm. The day will be split between classroom theoretical studies and workshop practical training. The NVQ Level 3 will be done at work.

The 2850 technical certificate will be assessed by a number of online examinations, written tests and practical assessments.

The 3268 practical welding skills can be done which will enhance the student's practical welding skills.

Advanced Apprenticeship in Fabrication and Welding Engineering

Progression onto a higher national Certificate.

Many of our learners study for free with a Fee Waiver when they are in receipt of qualifying benefits or studying a first full Level 2 or Level 3 qualification and meet age restrictions or are aged between 16-18.

If you are not entitled to a Fee Waiver, you may be entitled to receive Learner Support Funds to help with paying your course fees, or if you are aged over 19 and planning to study at Level 3 or 4 and have not previously studied at Level 3 or above you will be able to apply for an Advanced Learner Loan that covers the costs of your tuition fees. The loan will not cover the cost of any examination / registration fees and these will need to be paid for separately, or you may be entitled to receive Learner Support Funds to help cover the cost.

All learners may also apply for help with the cost of travel to college and the college may be able to help with the costs of childcare, travel, books, equipment and meals.
