Who is the course for?

This apprenticeship provides access to a highly transferable set of knowledge, skills and behaviours, which can be gained working across an organisation and its processes.

This apprenticeship offers a firm grounding in organisational operations and functional processes, as well as the wider working environment. Key responsibilities include developing, implementing, maintaining and improving administrative services.

The apprenticeship is a firm grounding in organisational operations and functional processes, as well as the wider working environment. Key responsibilities include developing, implementing, maintaining and improving administrative services. In doing so, the apprentice is expected to work independently and take responsibility for the outcomes of their work, with support of the employer and the training provider.

Do I need any formal qualifications?

Entry requirements will typically be set by each employer however where a business administrator has not already achieved Level 2 English and Maths, they must do so before taking the end-point assessment.

This is a level 3 Apprenticeship so participants need to be able undertake independent guided research, have good levels of confidence in the use of ICT, effective personal management skills and communication.

What will I study on the course?

Apprentices will learn how to:

- Be skilled in the use of multiple IT packages and systems relevant to the organisation in order to: write letters or emails, create proposals, perform financial processes, record and analyse data.

- Make recommendations for improvements and present solutions to management.

- Maintain records and files, handles confidential information in compliance with the organisation's procedures.

- Demonstrate ability to influence and challenge appropriately.

The programme will consist of 1:1 Coaching and teaching, themed small group workshops, assignments, research and projects.

This programme is delivered 80% in the workplace and 20% through workshops and off the job sessions which may take place College. Some of the workshops will be integrated with students undertaking other management Apprenticeship/qualifications.

Assessment (How will my progress be assessed?)

Apprenticeship Standards are formally assessed via End Pont Assessment. The End Point Assessment for this Standard includes an on line knowledge test, portfolio based interview and project presentation

All participants must successfully pass through an assessment Gateway before undertaking the End Point Assessment.

Either before or during the apprenticeship, apprentices will be required to achieve level 2 qualifications in English and Mathematics prior to taking end point assessment (EPA).

Apprenticeship Standard in Business Administrator Level 3

Many of our learners study for free with a Fee Waiver when they are in receipt of qualifying benefits or studying a first full Level 2 or Level 3 qualification and meet age restrictions or are aged between 16-18.

If you are not entitled to a Fee Waiver, you may be entitled to receive Learner Support Funds to help with paying your course fees, or if you are aged over 19 and planning to study at Level 3 or 4 and have not previously studied at Level 3 or above you will be able to apply for an Advanced Learner Loan that covers the costs of your tuition fees. The loan will not cover the cost of any examination / registration fees and these will need to be paid for separately, or you may be entitled to receive Learner Support Funds to help cover the cost.

All learners may also apply for help with the cost of travel to college and the college may be able to help with the costs of childcare, travel, books, equipment and meals.
