Who is the course for?

This test is one of the elements required to gain a CSCS Card which is a requirement for those individuals who require access to a construction site in the UK. Various CSCS Cards are available depending on the type of work to be undertaken and it is Important to apply for the right one. Speak to us to explore the options available to you.

Do I need any formal qualifications?

It depends on the type of CSCS Card that you require:

Green Labourer Card: You must complete an IOSH Working Safely Course or a construction related NVQ Level 1

Blue Skilled Worker Card: You must hold an NVQ Level 2 in your chosen trade.

Gold CSCS Card: You must hold an NVQ Level 3 in your chosen trade or in construction supervision.

Apprentice Card: You must be enrolled onto a recognised apprenticeship.

Trainee Card: You must be enrolled onto a construction related NVQ Level 2 or 3.

Yellow Visitor Card: No previous qualifications are required.

What will I study on the course?

The Health, Safety and Environment Test forms part of the process in applying for a CSCS Card. Different test types are available depending on the type of card that you require. It is important that you sit the right test and apply for the appropriate card. Speak to us for up to date information and advice on which card is right for you.

Learners will be given 50 multiple choice questions that are generated from the following categories:

- Construction Site Case Studies

- Legal and management

- Health and welfare

- General safety

- High risk activities

- Environment

Various HSandE tests are available depending on the card that you need including:

- Operative Test

- Labourer Test with Level 1 Award

- Supervisory Test (SUP)

- Management and Professionals Test (MAP)

- Plumbing Test (JIB) (PLUM)

- Highway Works Test (HIW)

- Specialist Work at Height Test (WAH)

- Heating and Plumbing Test (HAPS)

- Pipefitting and Welding Test (PFW)

By an online, 50 question multiple choice test completed under exam conditions.

It is recommended that you already hold the necessary qualifications before you sit the test. However, we can arrange this with you after the CSCS Test.

After completing the test learners will instantly receive the test result. They can then go on to apply for the CSCS Card.

The CSCS Card must be applied for within two years of passing the HSandE Test.

Once you receive your CSCS Card it is valid for 5 years.

To renew the CSCS Card, you must pass a further HSandE Test.

For Full-Cost and Leisure courses there is no financial support available.
