Who is the course for?

This course is for those who have already completed a Level 2 Certificate in floristry (4 units)

Do I need any formal qualifications?

Level 2 Certificate in Floristry

You are required to have a good standard of general education and competence.

Assessment of suitability is likely to be based on GCSE grades or equivalent.

Mature students with relevant experience will also be considered

What will I study on the course?

For this second year of study, you will continue with practical floristry designs including wedding and funerals, planted designs and function decorating. You will also look at window displays as well as industry requirements, HandS, using computer packages and a stronger emphasis on evaluation of design

You will continue to attend college 1 day per week over the academic year. Each lesson will consist of theory, group work, lots of discussion, as well as practical floristry.

You will also be required to obtain work experience for a set number of hours to develop your practical skills and industry knowledge

Your progress will be assessed by a range of methods including practical assessments, observations, written assignments, and identification tests. Assessments are spread out and varied to allow your skills to develop. This year will also include arranging events /weddings

You may also have the opportunity to complement your studies with other qualifications to help you gain employment, including functional skills, employability and personal social development. Other options may be available depending on timetabled commitments.

After completing the course you could study a Level 3 Diploma in Floristry

Many of our learners study for free with a Fee Waiver when they are in receipt of qualifying benefits or studying a first full Level 2 or Level 3 qualification and meet age restrictions or are aged between 16-18.

If you are not entitled to a Fee Waiver, you may be entitled to receive Learner Support Funds to help with paying your course fees, or if you are aged over 19 and planning to study at Level 3 or 4 and have not previously studied at Level 3 or above you will be able to apply for an Advanced Learner Loan that covers the costs of your tuition fees. The loan will not cover the cost of any examination / registration fees and these will need to be paid for separately, or you may be entitled to receive Learner Support Funds to help cover the cost.

All learners may also apply for help with the cost of travel to college and the college may be able to help with the costs of childcare, travel, books, equipment and meals.
