Who is the course for?
The course is for students who have achieved above average grades in their GCSEs particularly in Science, Maths and English and who have a dedicated interest in the care and welfare of animals.
Over the two years the course is equivalent to three A Levels and is ideal for those wishing to gain entry into Higher Education at Kirkley Hall or University.
Do I need any formal qualifications?
Yes, you will need to have five GCSEs including, Maths and English and Science at Level 6/7 or above.
What will I study on the course?
You will study exciting units including: Animal Health and Husbandry, Feeding and Nutrition, Biological Systems of Animals, Animal Behaviour and Communication, Welfare and Breeding, Work Experience, Health and Safety, Animal Training, Nursing and Exotics
You will be expected to complete half/one day each week of engaging industrial experience at the expanding College zoo, this can be included within the total of 150 hours of actual work experience each year needed for the course, some of which can be carried out on an external placement.
