Who is the course for?

This Diploma in Forestry and Arboriculture Level 2 is a practical based program for anyone who would like a introduction to the career opportunities available in the land based sector, particularly in arboriculture and forestry. The course is for people who are interested in working in tree surgery, forestry, tree management or self-employment.

Do I need any formal qualifications?

You will need to have two GCSEs at grade D, or a relevant level 1 Qualification.

What will I study on the course?

You will study an exciting range of units including tree felling, tree climbing, ground based arboriculture, introduction to land based machinery operations, work experience and environmental and land based business

The course runs for 3 days per week over 1 Year.

You may also be required to attend duties, as part of your work experience

Your progress will be assessed by a range of methods including practical assessments and observations, written assignments, and projects.

You may also have the opportunity to complement your studies with additional qualifications that will help you gain employment,

You may also study Functional Skills for which you will be tested at the start of your course. Other options may be available depending on timetabled commitments.

NPTC Diploma in Forestry and Arboriculture (QCF) Level 2

After completing the course you could progress into employment, or onto a level 3 qualification in forestry and arboriculture or a related subject

Many of our learners study for free with a Fee Waiver when they are in receipt of qualifying benefits or studying a first full Level 2 or Level 3 qualification and meet age restrictions or are aged between 16-18.

If you are not entitled to a Fee Waiver, you may be entitled to receive Learner Support Funds to help with paying your course fees, or if you are aged over 19 and planning to study at Level 3 or 4 and have not previously studied at Level 3 or above you will be able to apply for an Advanced Learner Loan that covers the costs of your tuition fees. The loan will not cover the cost of any examination / registration fees and these will need to be paid for separately, or you may be entitled to receive Learner Support Funds to help cover the cost.

All learners may also apply for help with the cost of travel to college and the college may be able to help with the costs of childcare, travel, books, equipment and meals.
