The learner will need to successfully complete 6 units (depending on which ones are selected) to gain this qualification.
The qualification includes a large number of units covering a range of topics. The mandatory units are:

- Investigative Project
- Work Experience
There are lots of optional units that allow you pick your areas of interest, such as:
- Livestock Production
- Agricultural Crop Production
- Grassland Management
- Livestock Breeding and Nutrition
- Farm Habitat Management
- Agricultural Crop Handling and Storage
- Beef and Sheep production.
The period of work experience will allow you to gain further first- hand experience of working on the farm or other related agricultural operations.
For all units you will study both the practical and theory-based aspects. You will learn how to carry out skills as well as why you need to do and know certain things.
