Who is the course for?

This course is for anyone that works in the hairdressing industry and wants to advance their skills. This Qualification is required for senior stylists or those who aspire to come and develop your creative side and enter into a world that can offer you foreign travel, television work, theatre work, self-employment, salon owner, work with the stars to name just a few of the opportunities that can arise from becoming a hairdresser.

The sky is your limit.

Do I need any formal qualifications?

You will need to have a level 2 Qualification in hairdressing or barbering, or five years' experience of working in the industry.

What will I study on the course?

You will study advanced techniques in cutting, colour correction and styling. Ideal if you want to develop advanced skills for a rewarding career in the hairdressing industry.

You will study exciting units including:

All aspects of colouring/colour correction ( Wow your friends)

Advanced Cutting techniques ( Impress your family)

Long hair work techniques ( advanced avant garde to formal looks)

Advanced blow drying setting and dressing techniques ( For a stunning look and finish)

Advanced perming techniques

The course runs for 2-3 days per week over one Year in college

Your progress will be assessed by a range of methods including practical assessments/ observations, online tests or written assignments,

You may also have the opportunity to complement your studies with other qualifications that will help you gain employment, including:

- Scalp Massage

- Men's hairdressing

- Bridal hair

- Hair extensions

After completing the course you could study an advanced level 4 hairdressing Qualification to progress your skills. Learn how to manage a salon, colour correction and advanced long hair skills.

We will make you industry ready to function in any salon or hairdressing working environment.

Many of our learners study for free with a Fee Waiver when they are in receipt of qualifying benefits or studying a first full Level 2 or Level 3 qualification and meet age restrictions or are aged between 16-18.

If you are not entitled to a Fee Waiver, you may be entitled to receive Learner Support Funds to help with paying your course fees, or if you are aged over 19 and planning to study at Level 3 or 4 and have not previously studied at Level 3 or above you will be able to apply for an Advanced Learner Loan that covers the costs of your tuition fees. The loan will not cover the cost of any examination / registration fees and these will need to be paid for separately, or you may be entitled to receive Learner Support Funds to help cover the cost.

All learners may also apply for help with the cost of travel to college and the college may be able to help with the costs of childcare, travel, books, equipment and meals.
