Who is the course for?

The Level 2 Diplomas in Hairdressing and Barbering are suitable for anyone who has completed a Level 1 Qualification, and/or have been working in the industry and are looking to accredit their skills and knowledge.

Do I need any formal qualifications?

You should have four GCSEs at Grade D or above or a relevant Level 1 Qualification.

What will I study on the course?

You will study current cutting techniques, colouring, perming, creative styling and the wider skills needed to work in the hairdressing industry. Ideal if you are interested in improving your existing hairdressing skills.

The course is delivered full time over 5 days per week for 1 Year if you are opn the fast track Qualification or 3 days over 2 years.

You will be assessed by a range of methods including practical assessments/ observations, written assignments, as well as practical and theory end tests.

You may also have the opportunity to complement your studies with other Qualifications that will help you gain employment, including Functional Skills and or GCSE in maths and English.

City and Guilds Technical Certificate in Hairdressing Level 2

After completing the course you could study Level 3 hairdressing or gain an apprenticeship.

Many of our learners study for free with a Fee Waiver when they are in receipt of qualifying benefits or studying a first full Level 2 or Level 3 qualification and meet age restrictions or are aged between 16-18.

If you are not entitled to a Fee Waiver, you may be entitled to receive Learner Support Funds to help with paying your course fees, or if you are aged over 19 and planning to study at Level 3 or 4 and have not previously studied at Level 3 or above you will be able to apply for an Advanced Learner Loan that covers the costs of your tuition fees. The loan will not cover the cost of any examination / registration fees and these will need to be paid for separately, or you may be entitled to receive Learner Support Funds to help cover the cost.

All learners may also apply for help with the cost of travel to college and the college may be able to help with the costs of childcare, travel, books, equipment and meals.
