Who is the course for?

Welders, operators, line inspectors and foremen who undertake visual examination of welded joints; quality control staff associated with welding; all staff who need basic training in welding inspection coupled with a qualification in this field.

Do I need any formal qualifications?

No formal Qualifications are needed just an interest in welding

What will I study on the course?

- To identify various weld imperfections (defects)

- To understand the relevant welding technology related to visual inspection

- To understand the need for documentation in welding

- To be aware of codes and standards related to inspection requirements

- To carry out inspection of parent materials and consumables

- To carry out visual inspection of welds, report on them and assess their compliance with specified acceptance criteria

- To pass the CSWIP Visual Welding Inspector qualification.

The course is organised through TWI and runs for 12 weeks with an exam in the final week.

This Course has an end of unit multi choice exam.

You could chose a relevant welding course to run alongside this.

You will be awarded with a CSWIP 3.0 visual welding inspection certificate and ID badge. This is an internationally recognised welding qualification.

You can progress on to a CSWIP 3.1 course or a NDT (Non-destructive testing) technician course.
