Who is the course for?

This is a practical course for those who need to master the basic skill in a specified welding process eg MIG, TIG, MMA or Oxy acetylene. This course is 100% practical and suits anyone who wishes to learn a new practical skill or wishes to re-train to being a skilled welder.

Do I need any formal qualifications?

No. However having an interest in practical skills would be an advantage.

What will I study on the course?

There is a choice of 2 welding process from MIG, TIG, MMA or Oxy acetylene (Gas) welding. Once you have chosen the welding process you wish to learn you have to produce 5 welded joints per process.

The course is 1 evening per week for 24 weeks. You will receive the necessary practical training from our team of skilled welders, knowledge and understanding to meet a minimum standard, equivalent to a BS EN 4872 welder approval specification.

You will complete 5 practical tests together with oral questioning. This will be assessed in accordance with City and Guilds predetermined criteria which will include both visual and destructive testing.

You can elect to complete a BS EN 4872 welding code qualification in a chosen welding process. Which is normally witnessed by one of our trained welding inspector engineers.
