Who is the course for?

The course is for anyone wanting to learn the basics on wall and floor tiling who would like to develop their skills and knowledge to become a qualified wall and floor tiler.

Do I need any formal qualifications?

No formal qualifications are needed to join this course but there will be an initial assessment and interview with the course team leader to determine the correct level of the course for each learner.

What will I study on the course?

On the duration of the course you will study:

- How to store resources ready for use

- How to erect and dismantle working platforms

- Setting out for basic tiling installation

- Preparation of background surfaces

- Position and finish wall and floor tiles to surfaces.

This course is ideal if you are wanting to gain employment as a wall and floor tiler and wish to develop your skills and gain a recognised qualification.

You may also be required to do functional skills maths and English depending on previous qualifications of each learner.

You will attend college two and a half days per week. With practical training and theory sessions you will develop the skills and knowledge required to become a competent tilers. You will complete a flexible learning plan that meets your needs. The main enrolment period for this course is in September but there will also be the opportunity to start the course at other times if places are available.

Your work will be assessed through written and theory assessments with end of unit tests. You will also be assessed on completing practical synoptic end tests.

You will also gain employability Skills and Functional Skills in maths and English

Diploma Wall and Floor Tiling Level 1

After successfully completing the Course you can move on to level 2 Wall and Floor Tilling.

Many of our learners study for free with a Fee Waiver when they are in receipt of qualifying benefits or studying a first full Level 2 or Level 3 qualification and meet age restrictions or are aged between 16-18.

If you are not entitled to a Fee Waiver, you may be entitled to receive Learner Support Funds to help with paying your course fees, or if you are aged over 19 and planning to study at Level 3 or 4 and have not previously studied at Level 3 or above you will be able to apply for an Advanced Learner Loan that covers the costs of your tuition fees. The loan will not cover the cost of any examination / registration fees and these will need to be paid for separately, or you may be entitled to receive Learner Support Funds to help cover the cost.

All learners may also apply for help with the cost of travel to college and the college may be able to help with the costs of childcare, travel, books, equipment and meals.
