Who is the course for?

This course is for anyone who would like to develop their skills and knowledge to become a qualified wall and floor tiler. The diploma will provide you with the necessary practical skills and underpinning knowledge.

Do I need any formal qualifications?

You should have two GCSEs at Grade D or above in English and Maths, or a relevant Level 1 qualification and have an interest in construction. If you do not have the relevant maths and English the functional skills will be completed.

What will I study on the course?

On the duration of the course you will study:

- Health and safety

- communication

- prepare background for tiling

- erect and dismantle working platforms

- setting out for tiling installation

- preparation of background surfaces

- how to position and finish wall and floor tiles to surfaces

- repair and maintain wall and floor tiling and lay screeing and self-level for floor tiling

- what adhesives to use.

This course is ideal if you would like to develop both the skills and knowledge to become a wall and floor tiler. These can be used in general Domestic House projects.

You may also be required to attend Functional Skills Maths and English depending on previous qualifications.

You will attend college two and a half days per week. The main enrolment period for this course is in September but there will also be the opportunity to start the course at other times if places are available.

Your progress will be assessed through theory end of unit tests and practical synoptic end tests.

You will also gain Employability and Functional Skills in maths and English.

Diploma in Wall and Floor Tiling Level 2

Once completing this course you will move on to level 3 in Wall and Floor Tilling.

Many of our learners study for free with a Fee Waiver when they are in receipt of qualifying benefits or studying a first full Level 2 or Level 3 qualification and meet age restrictions or are aged between 16-18.

If you are not entitled to a Fee Waiver, you may be entitled to receive Learner Support Funds to help with paying your course fees, or if you are aged over 19 and planning to study at Level 3 or 4 and have not previously studied at Level 3 or above you will be able to apply for an Advanced Learner Loan that covers the costs of your tuition fees. The loan will not cover the cost of any examination / registration fees and these will need to be paid for separately, or you may be entitled to receive Learner Support Funds to help cover the cost.

All learners may also apply for help with the cost of travel to college and the college may be able to help with the costs of childcare, travel, books, equipment and meals.
