Introductory Award in Accounting Skills to Run Your Business

Who is the course for?

This is a short course which will equip you with the knowledge you need to understand, interpret and communicate key financial information for the small business.

Do I need any formal qualifications?

You do not need any formal qualifications but useful strengths are: a confidence with numbers, time management, attention to detail and problem solving skills

What will I study on the course?

You will study the following units: Budgeting for the small business, Managing cash flow, keeping your business healthy, Understanding financial documents and, Sole traders, partnerships essential principles

These courses run for approx. 13 weeks at Ashington and Newcastle as follows: Ashington - Thursday from 9.30am to 1.00pm commencing 23/02/2017 and, Newcastle - Tuesday from 6.00pm to 9.00pm commencing 21/02/2016. Please call the Ashington Help Hub for more details.

Practical computer based assessments and you will have ongoing support from tutors.

This is a part time course so it would be reasonable to study alongside other qualifications. You could gain Functional Skills qualification in English and maths. All students will be expected to manage their own work load and prioritise.

Introductory Award in Accounting Skills to Run Your Business

After completing the Introductory Award in Accounting Skills to run your Business, you can go on to start or continue to build a successful business, Study for the Foundation certificate in Accounting the Introductory Award in Bookkeeping or the Introductory Award in Computerised Accounting

Many of our learners study for free with a Fee Waiver when they are in receipt of qualifying benefits or studying a first full Level 2 or Level 3 qualification and meet age restrictions or are aged between 16-18.

If you are not entitled to a Fee Waiver, you may be entitled to receive Learner Support Funds to help with paying your course fees, or if you are aged over 19 and planning to study at Level 3 or 4 and have not previously studied at Level 3 or above you will be able to apply for an Advanced Learner Loan that covers the costs of your tuition fees. The loan will not cover the cost of any examination / registration fees and these will need to be paid for separately, or you may be entitled to receive Learner Support Funds to help cover the cost.

All learners may also apply for help with the cost of travel to college and the college may be able to help with the costs of childcare, travel, books, equipment and meals.
