Who is the course for?

This course is designed for people to further enhance skills and prepare for the next step in your career on the Advanced Diploma in Accounting. This course is for someone with an aspiration for a career in accounting, finance or office management.

Do I need any formal qualifications?

You should have a L2 Certificate or Bookkeeping or equivalent or have substantial work experience in and accounting role. You must also be willing to complete additional tasks set by the tutor at home

What will I study on the course?

On this course you will master more complex financial processes, including final accounts for sole traders and partnerships, costs and revenues, using spreadsheets and professional ethics, making it perfect for anyone interested in a career in bookkeeping, or who wants to go on to become a fully-qualified accountant.

These courses last approx. 33 weeks and will run as follows: At Ashington either; 2 evenings per week on a Tuesday 5.00pm-7.00pm and Thursday 6.00pm-9.00pm commencing September 2018, or, Wednesday 10am - 4pm commencing September 2018. This course has end of unit assessments and you will have ongoing support from tutors.

This is a part time course so it would be reasonable to study alongside other qualifications. You could gain Functional Skills qualification in English and maths. All students will be expected to manage their own work load and prioritise.

AAT Advanced Diploma in Accounting - Level 3

Many of our learners study for free with a Fee Waiver when they are in receipt of qualifying benefits or studying a first full Level 2 or Level 3 qualification and meet age restrictions or are aged between 16-18.

If you are not entitled to a Fee Waiver, you may be entitled to receive Learner Support Funds to help with paying your course fees, or if you are aged over 19 and planning to study at Level 3 or 4 and have not previously studied at Level 3 or above you will be able to apply for an Advanced Learner Loan that covers the costs of your tuition fees. The loan will not cover the cost of any examination / registration fees and these will need to be paid for separately, or you may be entitled to receive Learner Support Funds to help cover the cost.

All learners may also apply for help with the cost of travel to college and the college may be able to help with the costs of childcare, travel, books, equipment and meals.
