Who is the course for?

This course is aimed at anyone looking to work in the Travel and Tourism Industry. It is a basic course that is intended for new entrants into the travel and tourism industry to gain an insight into what working in the industry involves.

Do I need any formal qualifications?

You should have two GCSEs at Grade F or above and an interest in travel and tourism.

What will I study on the course?

You will gain an overview of the travel and tourism industry and the skills required for working for airlines, travel companies, leisure facilities and tourist attractions. Ideal if you are interested in a career in the travel and tourism industry, but have few formal qualifications.

The course runs for 3 days per week over 1 Year.

Your progress will be assessed by a range of methods including practical assessments/ observations, written assignments, and short online multiple choice tests.

You may also have the opportunity to complement your studies with other qualifications that will help you gain employment, including functional skills

After completing the course you could progress on to study level 2 in Travel and Tourism, look for further training or you could work in the travel and tourism industry.

Many of our learners study for free with a Fee Waiver when they are in receipt of qualifying benefits or studying a first full Level 2 or Level 3 qualification and meet age restrictions or are aged between 16-18.

If you are not entitled to a Fee Waiver, you may be entitled to receive Learner Support Funds to help with paying your course fees, or if you are aged over 19 and planning to study at Level 3 or 4 and have not previously studied at Level 3 or above you will be able to apply for an Advanced Learner Loan that covers the costs of your tuition fees. The loan will not cover the cost of any examination / registration fees and these will need to be paid for separately, or you may be entitled to receive Learner Support Funds to help cover the cost.

All learners may also apply for help with the cost of travel to college and the college may be able to help with the costs of childcare, travel, books, equipment and meals.
