Who is the course for?

This programme is designed for students who wish to develop their knowledge of the exciting scientific and technical developments currently taking shape within the global animal management industries. Focus will be made on critical appreciation for animal management in its wider context considering animals as pets and companions on farms, in zoos and in wildlife parks.

The programme includes formal teaching strategies such as lectures, seminars, written assignments, presentations, and discussion boards. In addition, significant informal and experiential learning through focused session planning in the wider environment.

Do I need any formal qualifications?

A relevant level 5 animal management related qualification or substantial experience and demonstrable ability to study at level 6 equivalent to 240 credits at level 4 and 5.

£7000 pound fees for 18/19

Students are advised they may incur extra costs for additional books, journal subscriptions and resources. If the printing allocation is exceeded then you may need to purchase additional credits. Students are responsible for transport costs and this includes field trips. Your placement may require you to wear the correct personal and protective equipment.

Your progress will be assessed by a range of methods including presentations, portfolios, dissertation, report writing and project work.

BSc Hons Degree in Animal Management Level 6

You could seek employment in a range of senior or managerial roles within zoo and wildlife park industries, potentially leading to careers aligned to animal conservation. Studying at postgraduate level, plus research and teaching roles are also possible.

Higher Education learners are entitled to apply for HE Loans that cover the cost of tuition. In addition, depending on your chosen course of study and individual circumstances, you may be entitled to a maintenance loan. You may also qualify for a college bursary All learners can also apply for help with the cost of travel to college and the college may be able to help with the costs of childcare, travel, books, equipment and meals for learners resident in houses where income is below £25000 annually.
