Who is the course for?

This exciting new programme offers opportunities for people from different sectors to learn together. Whether you want to progress to management in traditional hospitality, events, marketing, food and beverage or rooms and revenue then this programme has been developed to meet your needs.

You will develop a basic understanding of management in the hospitality industry with opportunities to select units in your particular area of interest.

This programme also offers opportunities to apply your theoretical knowledge in the workplace whether you are employed or through voluntary work placement.

Do I need any formal qualifications?

You will need the equivalent to 48 UCAS points and GCSE English and Mathematics at grade C or 4 or above.

Mature students with relevant industrial experience are also welcome to apply.

What will I study on the course?

Modules:

- The Contemporary Hospitality Experience

- Managing the Customer Experience

- Professional Identity and Experience

- The Hospitality Business Toolkit

- Leadership and Management for Service Industries

You can select from relevant optional units depending on your chosen career pathway and these include:-

- Managing Food and Beverage Operations

- Managing Accommodation Services

- Managing Conferences and Events

- International Gastronomy

- Management Accounting

- Human Resources

Duration: You will attend for one day each week and classes are held on Mondays. HNC runs for two years part time.

Course Cost: £3800 Fees for 18/19

Additional costs:

Students are advised they may incur extra costs for additional books, journal subscriptions and resources. If the printing allocation is exceeded then you may need to purchase additional credits. Students are responsible for transport costs and this includes field trips.

Assessment will be continuous via a wide range of methods including seminars, projects, presentations, portfolios, academic posters. All assessments are linked to your particular work setting or placement.

A range of short courses are available to compliment this qualification including food hygiene and the award for personal licence holders.

BTEC HNC Diploma in Hospitality Management (QCF) Level 4

On successful completion of this programme , you will have the opportunity to progress to the HND in Hospitality Management with the diverse pathways listed above. . This qualification will also provide you with the skills to work in middle management positions in both the public and private sector.

Higher Education learners are entitled to apply for HE Loans that cover the cost of tuition. In addition, depending on your chosen course of study and individual circumstances, you may be entitled to a maintenance loan. You may also qualify for a college bursary All learners can also apply for help with the cost of travel to college and the college may be able to help with the costs of childcare, travel, books, equipment and meals for learners resident in houses where income is below £25000 annually.
