What will I study on the course?
We will explore the function of stories and their structure. The course will examine the way ideas can be discovered, developed and completed. We will write and share work of increasing length, starting with short, descriptive pieces and leading towards more developed stories. We will develop your own voice as a writer. Looking at styles and techniques used by different writers we explore ways these might be used in our own writing. We will look at the techniques and disciplines of writing for different media - prose, the stage, screenwriting and radio.
The aim is to discover, write and edit a short story, in any genre. Mentoring for your own projects will also be available.
