Rebecca Todd, Level 3 Early Years

When Rebecca left school in 2011 after her GCSEs, her teachers told her she'd never get in to university. Three years later and she has achieved the top grade for her Level 3 Early Years course at Northumberland College and is looking forward to starting her degree course at Teesside University.

Rebecca tell us her story:

Northumberland College has changed my life, three years ago I never would have thought I'd get in to university; they've helped me to achieve my dream.

I have achieved so much more at college than I would have if I had stayed on at sixth form. I've studied lots of additional units including first aid and playwork and had the chance to improve my maths and English. I've also completed my bronze and silver Duke of Edinburgh's Award.

As part of my course I completed placements in a number of early years settings which really increased my confidence and made me realise that this is the definitely the career path for me.

My college tutors have been fantastic, they are friendly and approachable and treat students like adults.

My ultimate career aim, which I hope to do after I graduate, is to set up my own theatre school for children to combine working with children with my passion for performing arts.
