Life at Northumberland College is about more than just studying; it’s about meeting new people, enjoying new experiences, developing new skills and spending time with friends. You will have the opportunity to get involved in college life in a variety of ways.
Food and drink
The Ashington campus offers students four very different places to eat and drink and catch up with friends at lunchtime and breaks. Choose between hot and cold, from a take away sandwich to a three course meal.
At the Kirkley Hall campus the Cedar Tree Café offers a range of hot and cold meals to eat in or take away. The Kirkley Hall student bar provides a relaxed place to enjoy a game of pool or watch a film after a hard day of study, and regular social events are planned to keep you entertained.
Learning Resource Centres
Our Learning Resource Centres at both Ashington and Kirkley Hall have great facilities including IT suites, libraries and quiet study areas.
Learner Parliament
Join our Learner Parliament as a student representative and let us know what you and your fellow students think of our courses, services and facilities.
Enrichment activities
Our enrichment activities are available to all of our students aged under 19, at venues throughout Northumberland and beyond. Try something you’ve never done before, develop personal skills or find a new interest or hobby.
Sport and leisure facilities
We have fully equipped sports halls and fitness suites at both our main sites at Ashington and Kirkley Hall, a sports field, high ropes, and a water sports centre at Blyth.
Pamper yourself
Our hair and beauty salons in Ashington and Berwick offer a wide range of treatments to our students, staff and the public at very reasonable prices, from a manicure or massage to a hair colour.
Move in!
If you want to come and study with us, why not move in too? We have halls of residence at our Kirkley Hall campus that offer you access to our on site facilities and social activities.
