A group of eleven students from Northumberland College’s Kirkley halls of residence raised over £500 for local charities through a series of challenges they set themselves.

The students raised £502.48 for four local charities, Daft as a Brush Cancer Care, People's Kitchen, Ouseburn Farm and the Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter.

The day was full of fun activities including a bake sale, car wash, tombola, raffles, bingo, head shaves and leg waxes.

Alison Gracey, Halls of residence Manager, said: "Students have not only supported good causes, but they have developed communication, team work and enterprise skills. They developed the challenge, promoted it and encouraged participation."
