Brand new commercial hairdressing and beauty salons will be created during the £9.5 million campus investment at Northumberland College.

The investment will benefit current and prospective students as well as the local community as the salons introduce new advanced treatments and extended opening hours.

As part of the redevelopment, seven private new treatments rooms have been created in the fifth floor beauty salon, 'The Graduate', as well as a dedicated space for the latest Intense Pulse Laser (IPL) equipment.

IPL is one of the most effective methods for hair removal, skin rejuvenation and thread vein removal using the latest technology.

Beauty therapists will be interested to know that Northumberland College now offer Level 4 courses in Intense Pulse Light for those who wish to develop the required skills and competence to offer those treatments.

The salon, which is open until 8pm Monday to Thursday, also offers a range of treatments including non-surgical facelifts, microdermabrasion and inch-loss treatments alongside the popular massage, facials and manicures.

In addition to the new beauty salon, a brand new 14 station hairdressing salon with two treatment rooms and a nail bar and restaurant on the ground floor of the Ashington main building will be created over the summer to complete the commercial experience available to members of the public.

The new facilities will attract new clients to the salons, giving students the necessary practical experience for their courses and developing their confidence and customer service skills whilst dealing with customers.

More information about the treatments available at The Graduate Salon call be found by calling 01670 841 211 or visiting www.northumberland.ac.uk/salons

Northumberland College also has commercial hair and beauty salons and offers training from sites in Berwick and Hexham.
