Justin Cooper, 29, from Amble, won his bronze medal in the IT Support Technician competition. Justin studied his IT technician course with the college last year and has now moved on to study an HNC in Computing.

The Skills Show, the UK's largest skills and careers event, gave youngsters the chance to discover a world of opportunities in further education, skills and apprenticeships. The competitions are open to all ages and run every year in around 70 different skills. The WorldSkillsUK event plays a key part in lifting standards of training and performance while promoting world class skills.

Toby Bell, IT lecturer at Northumberland College said: "Justin should be rightfully very proud. To reach the national finals at the Skills Show is a fantastic achievement in itself, but to have a Bronze medal underlines Justin's hard work and determination to succeed."
