Northumberland College today officially launched the Northumberland Career College. Targeted at 14 to 19 year-olds, Career Colleges are a national initiative conceived by former Education Secretary, Lord Baker, who passionately believes that high quality technical, practical and vocational training should be offered to students from age 14.

Northumberland College offers over 40 apprenticeship subject frameworks – one of the largest ranges of apprenticeships in the region with strong links with employers in Northumberland and the wider north east area and now wishes to highlight that these days apprenticeship training covers a broader range of industry sectors than ever before.
Northumberland College will soon be opening a £1.2m purpose-built training centre based at the Port of Blyth with state-of-the-art workshops and the latest teaching and learning technologies for renewables.
Those who choose to study at Northumberland College’s Berwick Centre can develop a wider range of skills than ever before including salon management, media make-up, performing arts, photography and vehicle maintenance.
